from your own experience, describe three spreadsheet functions that you have used and found them useful. In your answers:
1. The Net present value function -
The NPV function in Excel provides the net present value of an investment.
It is formulated in such a manner that it uses the applicable discount rate and yearly cash flows during the project life to give the net present value of the investment.
Example -
For example, a project requires an outflow of $ 15,000 at the end of year 1 and it shall provide an inflow of $ 4,000, $5,000, $2,000, $10,000, $11,000 at the end of year 2,3,4,5,6 respectively. So, its net present value is calculated in the following image -
Normal view -
Formula view -
Usefulness -
It is quite useful is it tells us whether the investment is profitable or not. It also takes into consideration the time value of money. Net Present Value function basically tells us the profit or loss expected from the project adjusted for time value of money.
2. The Internal Rate of Return function -
The IRR function in Excel provides the Internal Rate of Return of a project.
It is formulated in such a manner that it uses the applicable annual cash flows during the project life and a guessed percentage (it can be any random percent that we expect the IRR to be) to give us the Internal Rate of Return of the project.
Example -
For example, a project requires an outflow of $ 10,000 at the end of year 1 and it shall provide an inflow of $2,000, $2,800, $3,500, $4,500 at the end of year 2,3,4,5 respectively. Then, its Internal Rate of Return is calculated in the following image -
Normal view -
Formula view -
Usefulness -
The IRR function provides a rate at the present value of cash inflows and outflows shall be equal. i,e. it also helps in deciding whether to undertake a project or not. If the entity's required return from the project is less than the calculated IRR, then the project should be undertaken.
3. The IF function -
The IF function applies a logical test on a set of cells and provides a value based on whether the test result is true or false.
It uses the logical test data, the data in the cells on which the logic is applied, the value to be displayed is the test result is true and the value to be displayed is the test result is false.
Example -
For example, we have 8 employees and we need to decide which employee is eligible for promotion and the eligibility criteria for promotion is selling a minimum of 150 units.
This problem can be solved by IF function in the image given below -
Normal view -
Formula view -
Usefulness -
By using IF function, we were able to find which employees are eligible for promotion. We were not required to check manually for each employee whether that employee is eligible for promotion or not. So, IF function is useful is the data in case the data has multiple entries.

Assessment Questions . Reflect on your own experience and describe two leaders you encountered, one you admired and found easy to follow, and the other one who you found ineffective. Describe the behaviors of each that underlie your opinion of them. What lessons did you learn from them you could apply to your own managerial style? . Please describe two situations; the first, a situation where you believe a very directive style would be appropriate and the second, one where...
Describe your personal experience with the study of the humanities. Do you have any artistic or musical interests or skills? Provide specific examples of ways you believe the humanities can be incorporated into your nursing profession. How could you put your own skills in the humanities to use?
Describe the difference between a formula and a function explaining where you can use each, how you can test them, and their use in a linked spreadsheet. Use specific examples.
Design algorithms for the following functions and describe them in pseudocode. If you use auxiliary functions, describe them in pseudocode as well. Evaluate the runtime efficiency of your algorithms and express it in O( ) notation. a. Union(T1.root, T2.root): T1.root and T2.root point to the roots of two B-trees. The function returns a pointer to the root of a B-tree containing every key contained in T1 or T2. b. Intersection(T1.root, T2.root): T1.root and T2.root point to the roots of two...
Personal Computer Fundamentals many of you probably thought that Excel was simply a spreadsheet program used by accountants. In reality, Excel has functions that we can use in our daily lives. For this assignment, draft a two-page essay in which you describe how Excel can be used in each of the following areas of daily life: home (e.g., saving money, budgeting, tracking expenses, keeping up with maintenance or projects); work (e.g., creating graphs or charts for presentations); and school (e.g.,...
explain reverse logistics in your own words and provide an example of how you have been a part of a reverse logistics process, either as an employee or as a customer returning a product. How does this experience compare with the explanations of reverse logistics .Then search for resources found online investigate reverse logistics in both military and commercial settings. Describe similarities and differences between the military and commercial sectors in terms of reverse logistics.
Make your own problem please. 1)This project will entail you each describe YOUR OWN problem (using proper sentences). You can look at Chapter 3 (Exercises 47, 48) as examples of what I mean. 2)Construct a truth table for your problem in above step. 3)Create a Boolean function (sum of products) from your truth table. 4)Reduce/simplify your Boolean function using Bool Identities (you must show all work and use at least 2 identities). 5)Create a circuit for your Boolean function in...
Please generate examples from your own experience when you have experienced diffusion of responsibility. Some examples might include seeing someone fall and assuming that someone else would help, and rubber necking a traffic accident without calling 911. Given what you know now about the bystander effect and related variables, how can you behave differently in these situations?
