1) Skeletal System : OSTEOPOROSIS

Osteoporosis is the disease of the skeletal system in which the bones become very weak and breaks easily even with a mild stress.

Causes

• Lack of hormones like oestrogen in women and androgen in men.
• Inadequate calcium and vitamin D intake
• Low bone mass
• Lack of exercises
• Overuse of cortico steroids
• Thyroid problems

Risk factors

• women with family history of osteoporosis and post menopausal women
• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Ethnicity:Asians are at risk
• History of fractures
• cigarette smoking
• vigorous alcohol intake
• Eating disorders
• Gastrointestinal surgeries done to reduce the size of the stomach

Symptoms

• Low back and neck pain
• stooped posture(dowager's hump)
• easily breakable bone

2) Muscular System: Tendonitis

Tendonitis is the inflammation of the tendon.

Causes

• Working with wrong posture
• Sports like tennis,golf,swimming (repetative movement leading to stress)
• Carpentry

Risk factors

• Arthritis
• dog or cat bite

Symptoms

• Pain at the site of inflammation
• Limited motion
• Swollen,warm to touch

3) Nervous System: Bell's Palsy

Bell's palsy is the muscle weakness of one side of the face which may lead to facial nerve damage.

Causes

• Exact cause is unknown
• swelling and inflammation of the nerve
• Viral infection(herpes simplex,herpes zoster,rubella etc)

Risk factors

• Pregnancy
• Flu or cold
• Diabetes Mellitus
• High blood pressure
• Chronic middle ear infection
• Facial injury

Symptoms

• weakness of one side of the face
• drooling
• drooping of the eyelid
• difficulty to smile,impaired speech
• excessive tearing in one eye
• Jaw discomfort
• Headache
• decreased taste
• difficulty in eating and drinking
