Answer #1

Transformer is not an Energy producing device so it can't boost energy. Energy has to be constant during step-up and step-down processing ignoring the losses.

A step-up transformer boosts voltage on expense of current keeping the energy constant.

so true statement should be:-

a step-up transformer boosts voltage, while a step-down transformer reduces voltage in a circuit?

Please let me know if it was helpful. Thanks...
