Answer: The new technology that are being used in the healthcare settings provides major contributions in delivering quality of care to the patients. The use of advance technology increases the efficiency of the care as well as patient's satisfaction level. The advance technology provides more accurate results. One of the recent example is use if mobile devices. These devices enable patient to access their healthcare professionals. It also enables them to indulge in monitoring their own health such as vital signs. It makes them remind about the medications as well as provide information regarding drug interactions, use etc.

The another example that can be considered about the use of technology in the healthcare as implementation of the EHR ( electronic health record system). It can store large number of documents, information and it can be easily transfer to the healthcare professionals.

Some of the merits are:

  • Reduce medical errors
  • Positive outcome
  • Improve care and treatment
  • Reduce burnout among healthcare professionals
  • Increases efficacy of the treatment.

Demerits are:

  • Expensive
  • Requires training
  • Misuse of information.
  • Privacy violation
