Answer #1

ANSWER.

1) a) Maximum safe dose for this child.

              Recommended safe dose = 30 - 50 mcg/kg.

               Maximum recommended safe dose = 50 mcg/kg.

Weight of the patient = 8 kg

         So

Maximum safe dose for this child = 50 * 8

                                                                     = 400 mcg.

b) Ordered dose is safe or not.

                 Ordered dose = 0.25 mg

Convert mg to mcg for calculation

                    1 mg = 1000 mcg

        So

             Ordered dose = 0.25 * 1000

                                    = 250 mcg.

      Recommended safe dose = 30 - 50 mcg/kg.

       Recommended safe dose for this child = 30 * 8 - 50 * 8

                                                                       = 240 mcg to 400 mcg.

         * So the ordered dose(250 mcg) is SAFE for this child.
