Answer #1

a) As image has to be upright and small, we need convex mirror . Convex mirror makes small and upright and virtual image for all positions of real object.

b) Image formed is virtual

c) magnification , m = - di/do

As image is upright and hal the size of object, m=1/2

1/2 = - di/do .........1

As image is virtual and distance between object and image is 10m,

do - di = 10 ...........2

Solving 1 and 2 , we get

di = -10/3 and do = 20/3

Using mirror formula, 1/do+1/di =1/f, we get

3/20 - 3/10 = 1/f

f = -20/3 = -6.7 m ( - ve sign means a convex mirror)
