1. Discuss the shift from communicable diseases that once prematurely cut short life to an increased prevalence of noncommunicable chronic diseases that add years of disability. Why have these chronic diseases become more common? How have demographics contributed? (In other words, consider changes in population size and the age of populations.) What risk factors contribute to the top causes of death and disability?

Communicable diseases are those which transmits from one patient to other patient through droplet, touch, breath, water, air, food which could be more contagious and takes off the lives of human. If we just go through the ancient times this disease was considered to be curse of God and myths which isolated people from the society and cut short their lives. This was due to poor hygiene, improper nutrition, underdeveloped areas, improper vaccinations.

While non communicable disease is were it doesn't spread to other person and previously it was limited to the higher socioeconomic people.

Now a days due to medical technology and awareness among the population regarding the diseases the communicable disease has been eradicated from the society mostly through the continous monitoring and the vaccination of people all around.

While rolling the coin to the other side we have the urbanisation which increased the population and improper lifestyle changes including food, occupation, bad habits individuals are acquired with the non communicable diseases which could be chronic making them to suffer it life long or with disabilities. For instance diabetes when not controlled complicates in having diabetic foot and the foot has to be amputated wereby complete body image disturbance would be there and patient has to have life long disability.

These chronic disease have become more common due to industrialization, lifestyle changes, bad habits, over stress, environmental pollution, inadequate or improper balanced diet.

The age,, gender, race, ethnicity too plays important role in having the chronic diseases.

The risk factors would be

Family history.

Lifestyle changes

Lack of exercises

Occupation

Inadequate nutrition

Alcohol and smoking

Thus now the life long disability is predominant over the population.
