Answer #1

Answer a - 3.1 million people

Reason - labourforce = employed people + unemployed people

= 2.6 million + 0.5 million

= 3.1 million people

Answer b - 3.9 million people

Reason - not employed people = total adult population - (employed + unemployed)

= 7 million - ( 2.6 million + 0.5 million)

= 3.9 million

Answer c - 44.29%

Reason - labour force participation rate = total labour force ÷ total adult population * 100

= 3.1 million ÷ 7 million * 100

= 44.29%

Answer d - 16.13%

Reason - unemployment rate = number of people unemployed ÷ total labour force * 100

= 0.5 million ÷ 3.1 million * 100

= 16.13%
