Alternations in health( Diagnosis) :- Spastic Cerebral Palsy(Pyramidal)

Pathophysiology related to client problem:-

It is caused by damage to the brain's motor cortex or also caused due to damage to the pyramidal tracts which lead to impairment of motor function especially muscle control, coordination and posture.It causes abnormal perception and sensation.

Health promotion and disease prevention:-

- Vaccination should be done to prevent from Rubella and other Infections

Physical and Occupational therapy should be done for the management of spasticity in children with cerebral palsy.

Risk factors:-

- Head trauma

- Existing brain anomalies

- Cerebral Infections

- Maternal Infections

- Premature birth

- Interruption of oxygen delivery to the fetus.

Expected findings:-

- Failure to meet developmental milestones

- Gagging or choking with feeding.

- Poor suck reflex.

- Rigid posture and extremities

- Abnormal gait

- Stiffness in one part of body

-Abnormal posturing

Diagnostic procedures:-

- Screening during preadolescence

- Perform radiography

Safety considerations:-

- Vaccination should be done before getting pregnant as it will prevent from Rubella Infections

Nursing care:-

- -Optimize mobility and prevent deformity.

- Improve nutritional status of client

- Encourage for self care

Therapeutic procedures:-

- Physical, occupational, behavioural therapies should be given .

- Medications to control symptoms

Medications:-

- Muscles relaxants( Baclofen)

- Anticonvulsants( Gabapentin)

Anticholinergic ( Benztropine)

Client education:-

- Educate the client to perform range of motion exercises

- Client should rest between activities that are tiring

- Educate family member on how to use an orthotic devices

Interprofessional care:-

- Occupational therapist should perform exercises which will target affected muscles and helps in improving muscles control , Coordination and strength.

Complications:-

- Premature ageing

- Malnutrition.

- Osteoarthritis

- Osteopenia
