Alteration in health or diagnosis-
Electrical burns
Pathophisiology-
The pathophisiology of electric burns depends on the voltage of current causing it, tissue resistance and intensity of burns. Voltage, current, frequency and resistance. The current flows with least resistant path firstly through the vessles, muscles and tissues and then through the skin, fat, tendon and bone. The current gets in contact with human body and follows this path to cover the damage.
Health promotion-
Avoid contact with equipment and electrical supplies with naked hands and enviornment presented with high risk.
Assessment-
Risk factors-
Cintact with appliances, cardiac and respiratory issues.
Findings-
The patient suffers from contact burns due to electric shock
Lab diagnosis-
CBC count, electrolyte test, ceratinine
Diagnostic procedure-
Physical assessment and laboratory tests
Patient centred care
Nursing care-
Provide communication and appropriate interventions for better recovery
Assess the extent of burn and provide releif from pain and symptoms
Therapeutic procedure-
Electrolyte balance, pain releif and psychological counselling for mental trauma
Medication-
Topical ointment, NSAIDS, electrolyte infusion
Client education-
Avoid exposure to water and any fluid, allow recover through natural process and adhere to medications
Interprofessional care-
Team members such as doctor, physician, nurse, burn specialist, counsellor, mental health service provider, social worker etc.
Complications-
Heart arrest, respiratory disorders, appearance change
Safety considerations-
Avoid exposure to unhygienic enviornment to avoid infection, follow appropriate asepsis during care.
