In a population of Siberian flying squirrels in western Finland, assume that the the number of pups born to each female over her lifetime has mean μ=3.66 and standard deviation σ=2.9598. The distribution of squirrel pups born is non‑normal because it takes only whole, non‑negative values.

Determine the mean number of pups, x¯, such that in 70% of all random samples of such squirrels of size n=40, the mean number of pups born to females in the sample is less than x¯.

You may need to use software or a table of z-critical values. You may find some software manuals useful.

Give your answer to at least two decimal places.

The Census Bureau groups data on households into census tracts, where each census tract has a total population of about 4,000 residents. Census tracts should be divided so that the households in the census tracts share certain characteristics, such as economic status. Even though most tracts are around 4,000 residents, there is some variability, which is the focus of this lab. In practice, census tracts usually have a population between 1,200 and 8,000 people. I just need help with the...

Chefs: Assume the mean number of taste buds from the general population is 10,000 with a standard deviation of 950. You take a sample of 10 top chefs and find the mean number of taste buds is 10,900. Assume that the number of taste buds in top chefs is a normally distributed variable and assume the standard deviation is the same as for the general population. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the mean life expectancy in 2015 for Hispanic males was 79.3 years. Assume that the standard deviation was 15 years, as suggested by the Bureau of Economic Research. The distribution of age at death, X, is not normal because it is skewed to the left. Nevertheless, the distribution of the mean, x, in all possible samples of size n is approximately normal if n is large enough, by the central...

explaim the mechanisms amd toxological effects if type 1 diabetes in this article Exposure to arsenic in drinking water is associated with increased prevalence of diabetes. We previously reported an association of diabetes and urinary concentration of dimethylarsinite (DMAS"), a toxic product of arsenic methylation by arsenic (+ 3 oxidation state) methyltransferase (AS3MT). Here we examine associations between AS3MT polymorphism, arsenic metabolism and diabetes. Fasting blood glucose, oral glucose tolerance and self-reported diagnoses were used to identify diabetic individuals. Inorganic...
