If the solubility of KI is 50 g per 100 grams of water, then 200 grams of water can dissolve 100 grams of KI in it. If further amount of KI is added to the solution, it remains undissolved and this condition is known as Saturation and the solution is called as Saturated Solution. A saturated solution is one in which a maximum amount of solute is present in soluble form and even a small amount of solute further added remain undissolved. The solubility of a solute is dependent on temperature of the solvent. At the given temperature 20oC, 100 g of water can dissolve 50 g of KI and accordingly, 200 g of water can dissolve 100 g of KI into it. 10 g of excess KI remain undissolved in the solution. Therefore, option D is the correct one.
