Q3. The pregnant women must include an additional of 300 calories in their normal intake requirements. Pregnant women should try to consume a healthy and balanced diet in order to have a healthy pregnancy and they should not avoid any sort of binge eating. The day intake for a pregnant women must include complex carbohydrates such as vegetables, legumes and whole-grain breads. Daily consumption of 75-100 grams of proteins must be included in the diet. 20-25 grams of fibers must be included to prevent constipation and hemorrhoids. Healthy fats such as omega-3 fatty acids must be included in the diet in the form of avocado, walnuts and olive oil. 400 microgram of folic acid must also be included in the diet to sustain a healthy pregnancy.

The day diet will thus include:

  • 2 cups from the fruit group
  • 2.5 cups from the vegetable group
  • 6 ounces from the grains group
  • 5.5 ounces from the protein foods
  • 3 cups from the dairy group
  • 400 microgram of folic acid from avocado and great northern beans
