●Flat suspect refers to the absence of any expression of any sort of emotions to others.This can be mainly because of psychological factor but in oldage the social factors, family ,age can be one of the factor to lead to flattened affect.The cause can be because 9f depression (this is common because of separation from family members and staying in adult care centers,loss of family members or spouse, loss of financial income, isolation, negligence in rare cases domestic violence can lead to flattened affect.
●The screening tool which can be recommended for these patients are
●It is a better option to use in every older patient who is under suspicion on having the flattened affect symptom or any other negative symptoms to rule out the cause.
This can be recommended because of their loneliness, isolation, lack of social interaction, physical and psychological factor as they age.
●The follow up which can be recommended is once a month if very severe and if mild or in early stage can be provided atleast once in two to three months with proper counseling and therapy.
●The main strength of this is it helps to assess at the earlier states,inolepnt actions and prevent it from getting in future. They can be ,more reliable.
