The Plucknette article suggests that there are considerable differences between being a leader and being a manager. Is it possible or desirable to be both? Chapter 2 of the Management textbook suggests that the four functions of management are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Provide one challenge posed by serving as a leader and one challenge posed by serving as a manager in each of these functions?

It is not desirable to be both manager and a leader according to me.

From these four functions of management, as a leader one challenge is organizing because you don't know each and every person in the organization and don't know how they work. You can plan things and even control the things but organizing each and every person or situation for a single person is not possible being a leader.

Being a manager, one challenge is controlling because there are always someone above a manager who wants things to be controlled. So, as a manager planning, organizing and leading can be the three things in control but controlling the whole thing is in control of seniors.
