Answer #1

35. A. Ionic size decreases in the period from left to right in the period due to increasing the effective charge.

Order : Cl<S<K

B. S and Cl forms anions , S2-&Cl- respectivly and K forms cation K+

Anions have larger size than cation among isoelectronic species.

Hence order: K+<Cl-<S2-

36. Isoelectronic species means that same no of Electrons.

A. Mg+2: Na (neutral atom) and Al+3 (ion)

B. S2-: Ar (neutral atom) & Ca+2(ion) ion are isoelectronic to S2-. All have 18 electrons.

C. Cr+3: Sc (neutral atom) & V+2(ion ) ,all have 21 electrons.
