The Internet search shows lot of information regarding the status of nursing home in various domains of health such as physical, mental, spiritual and so on. The nursing homes provide long term as well as short term care to the patients who are mostly of old age, disabled or for a rehabilitation. I found a study acknowledging the nutritional and oral health of inmates. I chose this study because oral health and nutrition plays a vital role in an individuals life and is put up in the maslows heirarchy which in turn maintains the health and wellness. The source I found was Dirk Zeibolz et Al. Oral health and nutritional status in nursing homes. BMC geriatrics, BMC series- 2017, 17:39. The critical analysis that includes the following

1) the overall article phrases about the oral and nutritional status assessment in the nursing home. The major study aimed to show the potential associations between oral status and the risk of their malnutrition. The otheranamnestic factors included dementia, age and smoking. This showed dementia was a stronger predictor for risk of malnutrition in the nursing home and recommended the possible role of the oral health as cofactor for the malnutrition in patients with dementia.

2) The weak point was that there was a weak relationship between toothlessness and being at risk for malnutrition in residents of nursing home observed. The strongest observed risk factor was the dementia diagnosed patients. This cross-sectional study relating to temporarily pertaining to the presence of teeth and dementia. The diagnosis of dementia was only relied on the medical records and did not attempt to assess severity of dementia.

3) In this study, being edentulous was only in multivariate analysis significantly associated to malnutrition. Other studies showed the edentulous residents especially without dentures to be at higher risk for malnutrition.
