Discuss Chapter Nine: God’s Breadth of Life of Simply Christian by N.T. Wright
I discover chapter 9, God's Breath of Life, a fascinating part as Wright proposes "the purpose of the Spirit is to empower the individuals who pursue Jesus to take into all the world the news that he is Lord, that he has prevailed upon the triumph the powers of wickedness, that another world has opened up, and that we are to help get it going." I discover this suggestion befuddling, as the "it" is by all accounts somewhat amorphous. Later Wright proceeds to state "the Spirit is likewise the person who consolidates paradise and earth." Perhaps the "it" is the uncovering of these crossing points and living in the openings to this new world – God's Kingdom without a moment's hesitation so we can encounter the truth of God's the hereafter, God's will be done, on earth as it is in paradise. Wright likewise accentuates the conjoining of the Spirit and the Church, we can't separate the two and the action of the one is personally and indistinguishably interwoven with the other.
