As a nurse, I have mentorship responsibilities with my junior staff. I believe that I am a good mentor and my mentorship skills are appreciated. I make corrections when junior staffs make an error and I do this in a way that allows them to understand the mistake and not feel insignificant or stupid.I am easily accessible and approachable as I believe communication is very important in nursing and mentorship. If I am asked a question, I will admit when I  do not have an answer and actually go through the process to figure out how to find the right answer. It is necessary to not teach people the wrong information.

As a mentor, I helps brainstorm ideas for projects, directed junior staff to different resources, and reviewed guidelines. When my junior staffs were ready to advance in their careers, I wrote letters of recommendation for their promotion.I have also motivated and guided pupils to conduct research and writing scholarly articles. I always encourage my juniors to read and learn from the latest nursing journals and incorporate those latest research insights into practice.
