Answer #1

Q1, Mean is the most common measure of central tendency..central tendency is the statistical measures that provide accurate description of the entire data..There are different types of mean..

Arithmetic mean:

It is a simply mean, it's a average and computed by adding all the values in the data set divided by the number of observations..The mean uses all the values in the data it is a good representative of the data..mostly it will not appear in the raw data.. Example in total population of disease control this will not come as it is a raw data..The mean measures central tendency that resist the fluctuation between two samples.. Example total number of disease control among particular population and number of children and women in that group, vulnerable people..it is close to the standard deviations and measure of dispersion..

Weighted mean:

It will calculate some values in a data set which is important..Example when we are weighted mean used in case the patient average duration of stay in a hospital..Total number of patients present in the ward is a weight..

Geometric mean:

It is a arithmetic mean expressed as the nth root of the product of the values... geometric mean used in microbiological and serological research..it was used in only some conditions..

Harmonic mean:

It is a reciprocal of the arithmetic mean..it means the reciprocal of individual observation..when we want to determine the average sample size of the number of groups HM is useful...these means will be identical if all the values in data are correct..when variablity increases mean also increase..

Q2, mean, median and mode are the most popular averages..it is a stable measure of central tendency, but it has some limitations,it was affected by more items,it may not coincide with the actual values of any item in a series,it can lead to wrong impression..when the item values are not given with the average quantitative measurements are possible in economic and social studies..

The charecter of limitations is to keep various average in view, discriminate are of average is important for good statistical analysis..for example manufacturers should know the size of the dress mostly in demand to produce the particular product..
