A spring is mounted horizontally. A crate, which has a mass of 8.5 kg is pressed against the spring with a force of 350N As a result the spring is compressed a distance of 82.0 cm The mass is then released and is allowed to slide along the horizontal surface which has friction. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the crate and the surface is 0.65

How much work will be done on the crate by the frictional force from the time the crate is released until the mass stops? How far will the mass slide before it comes to a halt?

A 20 kg crate is allowed to slide down a 60-m long smooth inclined plane which is 30° with the horizontal. At the bottom of the inclined plane, the crate is allowed to slide horizontally with the ground where the coefficient of friction between the crate and the ground is 0.15. After 1 m, the crate would meet a coil with a spring constant of 1000 N/m. (Assume that the friction no longer acts as the crate hits the spring).Calculate...
