Social media has become part of our lives by becoming available across the globe. Many medical practices have not emmerged into social media inspite of huge platform because of privacy concerns. It is important for a medical practice to have a social media presence through facebook page or twitter as it can be a source for online platform to provide office hours and appointment availability. It may sometimes create issues by negative feedbacks of dissatisfied patients and become a platform to destroy the reputation for minor issues of the practice.

The pros of social media for medical practice are accessibility of information, cost effective marketing, availability of communication, patient education, increased patient interaction, promoting new interventions and research data.

The cons of social media for medical practice are patient privacy concerns, trust issues to share health complaints online, violation of HIPAA regulations.
