1. Predicting RMR Formula

For men this is: 1 kcal x kg body weight x 24 hours

1kcal x 216lbs (98kg) x 24 hours

98 x 24 = 2352 kcal

MEN   TEE = (weight in kg x 10) + (Height in cm x 6.25) - (Age x 5) + 5) x PA

TEE = (98kg x 10) + 74in (189cm x 6.25) - (28 x 5) x PA

980 + 1181.25 – 140 = 2021.25 x PA

Answer #1

It is important to know the energy needs of body to balance between energy intake and energy expenditure in order to maintain the optimal health. Knowing the proper energy needs helps individual to calculate the calorie requirement of their body and maintain an adequate BMI, so that the patient is not exposed to the health risk of obesity or malnutrition.

The Mifflin-St Jeor Equation, MEN   TEE = (weight in kg x 10) + (Height in cm x 6.25) - (Age x 5) + 5) x PA, is the more accurate formula , it is about 10-20% more accurate than other formulas. The BMR/RMR calculated using this formula is more specific to the individual and is believed to give the most accurate result.
