1. ☆ Tonic - Clonic seizure:

Tonic phase causes stiffening of arms and leg muscles along with loss of consciousness. Clonic phase causes jerking movements of all extremities after the tonic phase. Seizure activity last for 2- 5 minutes associated with tongue bite and urine or faecal incontinence.

☆ Tonic seizures:

Patient experience increased muscle tone and rigidity following loss of consciousness. It last for few minutes.

☆ Clonic seizure:

Patient has jerking movements followed by muscle contractions and relaxation. It last for few minutes

☆ Absence seizures:

It is most common in children. It includes few periods of loss of consciousness with involuntary behaviour which are unaware to the patient. Return to normal immediate after seizure activity.

☆Myoclonic seizure:

Patient experience symmetric or asymmetric muscle contractions along with small jerking movements of extremities. It can be single or multiple times and it last for few seconds.

☆Atonic seizure:

A sudden loss of muscle tone followed by post seizure confusion which resulted in fall or injury. It last for few seconds.

☆Simple seizure:

Patient will be conscious during the episode. During the seizure, patient experience pain and unable to move the extremities as well as unusual sensations and aura.

☆Complex seizure;

It last for 1-3 minutes. It is similar to absence seizures along with loss of consciousness.

3.☆ Loosen the clothes around the neck

☆ Protect the patient using pillows or blankets, if she fall on the floor

☆Don't open patient's mouth forcefully or put anything in the mouth

   ☆Monitor the patient carefully and don't try to move the patient

☆Turn the patient to left side to prevent aspiration and to open the airway.

4. Diagnosis and treatment of seizure is based on the type of the seizure. Anticonvulsant drugs are used to control the electrical activity of the brain. Ongoing monitoring and routine medication is necessary for these patients.
