Trazodone is an antidepressant drug which is classified under selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).

Trazodone inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and blocks the histamine and alpha-1-adrenergic receptors. This results in more serotonin to stimulate other nerves. It also induces significant changes in 5-HT presynaptic receptor adrenoreceptors.
