In the world where globalization has allowed people to migrate to different parts of the world in search of job opportunities, diversity exists. Employees from different parts of the world join an organization and they carry diverse values, cultures and morals. In order to have an inclusive environment, Diversity Management is an important aspect.
"Diversity" in a workplace, would mean variety in terms of the culture, values, lifestyle, gender, caste, race of every employee who works in an organization. In order to ensure every employee feels comfortable and inclusive to work in the organization, it is important that the organization ensures "Diversity Management".
Diversity Management can help organization in achieving the organization's goal in a better manner as diversity brings in new and innovative ideas, helps in capturing new markets by understanding the demographics and also helps retain employees and ensure employee loyalty.
Diversity Management can be implemented in a workplace by adopting some of the below techniques:
1) Be Open-minded: Inclusiveness comes when everyone is accepted for being a human being and not being judged based on their culture, caste, gender, race, etc. Having an open mind helps in accepting a person the way they are and thus helps in working together harmoniously within the organization.
2) Conducting Diversity and Inclusiveness Drives: Conducting training and drives on importance of diversity inclusion can be held.
3) Create groups with diverse employees: The organization can assign diverse people to work in groups which can help people understand diverse cultures and values and also help in inclusion.
