The study's value is determining the site of bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract.This has been used in nuclear medicine for so many years.The number of these procedures are increasing steadily .As it is able to locate the site and the cause of bleeding it is now more commonly used for diagnostic purposes .It brought a change in treating these type of patients .It provides an oppurtunity for local therapy,used when there is a report of inconclusive endoscopy or barium studies. It is performed rarely only hen necessary and other diagnostic test fail to give conclusion regarding the gastrointestinal bleeding.
