Should access to healthy food be a right for everyone?

Obesity screening is an important secondary prevention measure. Nutritional intake is influenced by many factors such as cultural, social, economic and regulatory to name a few. Address healthy eating. Consider some of the points below and any other points that you feel are important to the discussion.

What if healthy food was only available to people who can afford it?

What might be the consequences of that—both to individuals and society?

If not, how might we make healthy food available to everyone?

Do you think it is true that food is either cheap or healthy, or is this a false dichotomy?

How have our government policies affected the types and costs of available foods?

How does the cheap price of processed food affect low-income families? Is this fair?

Subsidies make certain foods cheaper than they would be otherwise. Without subsidies, how might low-income families afford food?

With cheap food, it seems our society pays at both ends—at the production end with subsidy tax dollars, and at the consumption end with poorer health and lower productivity.

Who benefits from cheap, fast food? Is it really cheap for everyone?

How might our government policies be restructured to allow more access to healthier foods

Do you think healthy eating should be a right, a responsibility, or a privilege?

How do you think the way your grandparents used to eat differs from how you eat today?”

Answer #1

Food ,one of the basic rights of all human being. If healthy food is available only to people who afford it ,it means that only people with high socio income can survive and for lay man it's a curse resulting in poor health and malnutrition especially among young children and pregnant women

For an individual it affects him physically (weakness, malnutrition) and emotionally ( depression that he cannot support his family for bread and butter) In society there will be growth among one group who is financially sound

Healthy food can be made available if the government undertakes certain action like establishing food centers which is affordable and healthy

Cheap foods though affordable may not be healthy in the way of preparation and the stuffs used in it.
