(a) Displacement of the object from t = 0 to t = 5 s

d = 5.0 m (look closely the graph)

Time, t = 5.0 s

So, average velocity, v = d/t = 5.0/5 = 1.0 m/s

(b) t = 0 to t = 6 s

Displacement of the object during this time, d = 0

time, t = 6 s

So, average velocity, v = d/t = 0/6 = 0

(c) t = 2 s to t = 4 s

Displacement, d = 10.0 m – 5.0 m = 5.0 m

Time, t = 4-2 = 2.0 s

So, average velocity, v = d/t = 5.0 / 2 = 2.5 m/s

(d) t= 4 s to t = 7 s

Displacement, d = 5 – (-5) = 10.0 m

Time, t = 7 – 4 = 3 s

So, average velocity, v = d/t = 10/3 = 3.33 m/s
