Thank you so much.

1. You are a traffic engineer for the City of Angola. You have been tasked to design a left turn lane on NB approach to an intersection Your signal timing for left turns indicate 10 seconds of left turn only green time and 50 seconds of red time each signal cycle. The green time will allow 4 left turns to be made each signal cycle. An average of 3 left turning vehicles will approach the intersection each cycle. Space is limited, so you will need to use your engineering judgement to determine if the amount of time the through lane will be blocked due to vehicular queueing is acceptable a. What is the probability that no left turning vehicle will arrive during a signal cycle? b. If the turn lane has capacity for only 4 vehicles, what percent of the time will the through lane adjacent to the left turn bay be blocked? Explain why this is acceptable or not acceptable.

Word Problem) Two two-way streets meet at an intersection controlled by a four-way traffic light. In the east and west directions, the lights cycle from green to yellow to red. The south-facing lights do the same thing, except that they are red when the east-west lights are green or yellow, and vice versa. However, the north-facing lights are augmented with a green left turn arrow. They cycle red-green arrow-yellow arrow-green-yellow-red. Consider the following additional problem specifications: When the green or...
