Nurses working in women’s health care must be aware of the growing problems of violence against women. All women should be screened when being assesses during health care for the possibility of abuse.

• Describe how you as a nurse would adjust the environment and your communication style when conducting the health history interview and physical exam in order to elicit a women’s confidence and trust?

Answer: As a nurse interacting with the people specially woman Patient who are being abused is one of the difficult task as they are sometimes tortured so much that they are unable to describe their feelings or emotions. As a nurse we have to be very sympathetic and caring towards them. We should be friendly with their situation so that they may feel free to discuss their problems.

Many women are physically abused, they are being tortured, hit by things etc. They have many physical marks of injury, sometimes these abuse changes their behaviour. So it is easy to recognise these patients.

Several questions can be asked while the assessment to know about the abuse or the pressure a woman is going through. Asking them about things and hobbies, as in most of the cases woman suffering from abuse, domestic violence are unable to think or talk about their hobbies as they become morally weak. Nurse should advocate and give education regarding rights of women.
