Answer #1

\DeltaL = length by which hair grows = 1.25 cm = 1.25 x 10-2 m

\Deltat = time period for the hair to grow = 1 month = 30 days = 30 x 24 h = 30 x 24 x 60 x 60 sec = 2.592 x 106 sec

Speed of growth of the hair is given as

v = \DeltaL/\Deltat

inserting the values

v = 1.25 x 10-2 /(2.592 x 106)

v = 0.48 x 10-8 m/s

v = 4.8 x 10-9 m/s

v = 5 x 10-9 m/s
