Ans:- 31.
Neuropathic ulcers:- Neuropathic ulcers forms as a result of peripheral neuropathy typically in diabetes patients.
Lack of sensation or local paresthesis over pressure points on the foot leads to extended micro trauma , break down of overlying tissues and eventual ulcertion .
Strategies that we can use to minimize the risk of developing neuropathic ulcers in at risk patients are as follows:-
1. Daily observation:-
We should daily observe the patient's feet for any unusual changes in colour , development of callouses and any sore. So that we can early find out the problem if any occur.
2. Protection from injury:-
We should protect the feet of patient from any injury, infection and we should ensure that patient wears comfortable shoes or footwears so that pressure over pressure points on the foot can prevent. Patient should never walk barefoot.
3. Proper care:-
Proper care should be provided to the patient so that we can prevent him from ulcers. We should not allow the patient for soaking of feet because there is no sensation in the feets and they can be easily scalded by hot water without any realisation of pain or scald.
