a .In bilateral salpingo-oopherectomy is the surgery to remove both ovaries and both fallopian tubes.The patient may experience hot flushes,va ginal dryness and night sweats.This surgery will induce menopause.Estrogen replacement therapy is the treatment option

  • Check the vital signs
  • Provide perineal care.
  • Check pad for bleeding
  • Monitor for blood clot.
  • Stockings are worn by the patient to prevent DVT.
  • Frequent change of position
  • Avoid pressure under the knees.

Since estrogen replacement therapy is advised for the patient,explain to the patient she may experience nausea and fluid retention.Advise the patient to rest at home for 3-5 days after the surgery.Explain to the patient that stiches inside the vag ina will absorb over time and do not need to be taken out.Advise the patient not use tampoons or douches and not to lift anything heavier than 10 pounds for 4-6 weeks.
