This week, we are learning about the social determinants of health. Considering our weekly

readings on the social determinants of health and rural populations, discuss at least two social

determinants that impact the health of rural populations.

Application

Describe policies or a (proposed) policy that would facilitate increased accessed to any

Science:

The two social determinants of health that would impact health of rural population are

1) Income: When compared to urban areas the people working in rural areas will get very less income as the wages are less. Income always have an effect on health because people will not be able to spend more money and get check-up their health in a big hospital as they charge high. So rural people will mostly visit the doctors in their locality as they can't afford that much to on big hospital

2) Infrastructure : Most of the rural hospital will not have advanced infrastructure due to many reasons but the main reason is they can't pay more amount for these private hospital with good infrastructure. So in most of rural areas we see that hospital won't have a good infrastructure.

These two and some other social determinants are effecting the health of population in rural areas.

Application :

Health Care policy is one of the social determinant health policy which is introduced by state government for helping the people in state who are not able to pay huge amount to hospital. In this policy people should apply first and after approval they will get the benefit of this policy.

If any one in a family is ill they can go to hospital and give them the details of the policy after verification of details the hospital will treat the patient and government pays the bills of hospital as mentioned in the policy. These policy is introduced for people who are below income level , so that they can get a better treatment and health.
