Argument 2 In a world where medical resources are in ever-shorter supply, allocation of those resources is becoming an issue. Critical care units (ICU) put heavy demand on hospital resources. Adult medical intensive care units (MICU's) are often occupied by elderly patients in the final stages of chronic illnesses. Neonatal ICU's, however, are reserved for premature infants that need critical care in the first few days of life. Surveys of mortality rates in relation to amount of care for both units show that on a cost/benefit basis, outcomes for NICU patients are statistically better than those for MICU patients. Since hospitals should prioritize outcomes, it is clear that resources should be allocated more heavily to the NICU. Using the examples in the introduction of this activity, address the following: 1. 1) To meet the demand of medical resources has become a major issue for the hospitals these days · Que to this heavy scarcity and seeing the benefits Nicu gives more benefit as compared to that of Mico - ICU is used for patients which either require constant monitoring or advanced type of care due to specific conditions which can be life threatening conditions. If we think of an elderly patient and a neonate the chances for survival is more in the neonatal cases. So, we should invest in the direction of more output instead of investing are resources and hard work to the cases which have minor or less chances of survival. For example if we see an injury I accident case of new born and elderly patient we find that the new born gives response to the treatment to a much higher sate than the same care given to the elderly patient. The rate of healing is also more in new boons. As the new borns have new cells where as older people to have many old and weak cells which have got reduced power of regeneration. So, according to me to provide medical resources more to the NICU will be an inductive process while wasting our resources in MICU will be a deductive process.
