  1. According to Larry Appel, director of the Johns Hopkins Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical Research; “pills i.e. taking vitamins are not a shortcut to better health and the prevention of chronic diseases.” Eating a healthy balanced diet, maintaining a healthy weight, and reducing the amount of, trans fat and saturated fat, sodium, and sugar in our diet is a better way to stay healthy. Only if someone is pregnant, breastfeeding old, we need vitamin supplements.

b. The adverse effects of taking multi-vitamins supplements include the development of vitamin toxicity i.e. hypervitaminosis. Staining of the tooth, increased urination, bleeding in the stomach, a heart rate that is uneven, confusion, and muscle weakness due to large doses of vitamins that are taken along with many minerals such as; calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and zinc.
