Answer #1

A delegate is a person sent or authorized to represent others,in particular an elected representative (or) a member of the committee

Delegation is the act of giving control, authority,a job, duty etc to another person (or)

Getting work done by others to accomplish and to meet the organizational goal

Delegation is so important in each and every organization where we are assigning the responsibility and the responsibility to someone or a representative in order to complete a well defined task in a smooth and easy way for its success.

It is a very important process or the skill that helps to end in clinical and financial outcomes.

Delegation is very important in our Clinical practice and the nursing field where :

*It help reduce stress

*It improve the efficiency of staff

*The representative will be responsible for the duties

The rights of delegation ahich we are following in our own scope and practices are:

\rightarrowThe right person

\rightarrowThe right task

\rightarrowThe right circumstances

\rightarrowThe right directions/communication

\rightarrowThe right supervision and evaluation

In my view most of the nursing staff are delegated to their doing their responsibilities

*We have to be responsible and accountable to be work for the patient welfare and their needs.

*Thus doing our job based on the client needs we can get an in depth understanding of the client needs and the conditions thus we can improve our knowledge skills to meet the demands of the patient in any emergency condition/handle any emergency situation.

*When delegating work to the staff or the sub-ordinate the leaders or the supervisors who are responsible have to be supervised the care where they delivered..

*They are meeting the demands of the patient, quality appropriateness, meeting the standards of care, completeness of the care they are delivering

*The supervisors who are delegating the duty are responsible for monitoring, giving guidance and support to handle a new situation, assist them in critical care setting, giving guidance for the importance of maintaining time management in priority care settings

*One of the main rights of delegation in nursing is right directions or communication. The communication tasks is very important in our field. We have to improve our communication skills to an maximum extent. While giving care to the patient we have to report all the significant changes in the clients to the authorized or the responsible person.

Example:

A patient is admitted in the emergency care with the complaints of Shortness of breath.Inform to the concern person immediately. He or she has to give priority consideration to sent the ABG,s ,check the vitals and according to the status we have to start the oxygen administration. Follow up the case with the primary concern person (including the case management part),assist the patient in all basic needs including hygiene. If any changes noticed while giving care informed as soon as possible and take necessary action etc,

\rightarrowAnyway delegation is very important in our field but the fact that the over delegation and under delegation should be avoided it should result in errors,in completion of job responsibility and frustration towards handling of the case.

*The over delegation of the duty some times may result in frustration of the staff, increase the work load results in missing of learning opportunities, assigning the task with out allocating the proper resources, not giving any feed back or input from the supervisors regarding the accuracy and completeness of the work done, allocating more patients during emergency is difficulty to handle each case.

*The authority is not considering our strength and not allocating the the priority client who takes advanced care. They are providing only small or inconsequential tasks,or assisting other staff results in lagging the learning opportunities, lacking in the development of improved knowledge and skills, not knowing the sub-ordinate strength in the field of area. This all will leads in a thinking that we are not suitable for the team to work and resulted in lacking in interest for individual development.

Some times unfortunately according to the situation over delegation and under delegation is happening in case of emergency,or in case of disaster etc.But knowingly if over delegation and under delegation results in danger to the growth, confidence, learning opportunity and self-esteem and self-confidence of the staff/subordinates
