You are having your second month staff nurse performance evaluation after taking a new job. Your manager believes it is important to have frequent evaluations in order to provide timely feedback and focus on improvement. This is your second job in healthcare in 2 years. You struggled in your last position—felt frustrated, tired, never seemed to get all your work done when needed, and felt like you were running around and getting nowhere. You changed jobs because you thought the work environment was causing most of these problems. You worked in a busy hospital medical unit as a staff nurse. You are now working in a long-term care facility. In your previous position you got infrequent feedback so this effort to provide timely feedback is different for you. The nurse manager comments that you seem stressed. She also says that you do not use delegation effectively, which is an important part of quality improvement. You are confused by the manager’s last statement, but you do not ask her what she means because you just want the meeting to end. You leave the meeting upset, and you decide to slow down and ask yourself some serious questions.

Answer:The delegation involves the assigning responsibility if work the other person. It is one of the method of the management leadership.

Accountability, authority and responsibility are related to delegation as the responsibility that is assign to the person gets the authority and responsibility to perform the task. It indulge in the process and performance of the person.

While delegating the workload increases because the responsibility of work increases as whether the person who has been delegated performs the task and responsibility clearly and accordingly.

The delegation is related to the quality improvement as it enhances the work output and the results. This makes the result more useful by creating better opportunity for the management leadership.
