4. If an electroscope is negatively charged, what will happen to the leaves if another negatively charged rod were brought close to the electroscope? What will happen to the leaves if a positively charged rod were brought close to the electroscope? How would this be different if the electroscope was not charged at all?

If an electroscope is negatively charged and negatively charged rod brought near to the electroscope then leaves of the electroscope will further move away due to increasing negative charge.as the negative rod repell charge at top of electroscope and force it to move towards leaves, due to increase in charge in leaves they will move further away.

If positively charged rod brought close to the electroscope then the total charge will decrease due to which leaves move closer to each other, as negative charge will be attracted by rod on moving further closer the leaves fall down as all the negative cherge on leaves will move toward rods

if electroscope is not charged at all that then the leaves are stick together and if a rod of positively or negatively charged brought closer to the electroscope then leaves moves away in both condition.
