Compare and contrast the prevention through design concept with design safety reviews. Provide examples that illustrate the strengths and weaknesses of each.
Compare and contrast:
Prevention through Design is a national initiative to reduce
occupational injury, illness, and fatalities that impact
workers.
Prevention through safety link with incident reduction and achieve
positive safety results for workers engagement.
Prevention through Design initiative is the most reliable and
effective type of prevention. It has an intermediate goal to
identify issues and partners and stakeholders participation to
address the goal. Prevention through Design focuses on research,
education, practice, and policy functional activity.
Prevention through safety is a behavior-based system approach, it
is a more comprehensive and balance system to manage safety and
preventing accidents from happening.
Prevention through Design:
Strength:
Example:
This study design help for clinical intervention for the different
demographic group to carefully choose the treatment for practice.
This design method identifies populations like high risk and
low-risk populations and the treatment-adherent.
Weakness;
It will provide a negative result we can not find whether the
treatment is effective or ineffective under optimal
conditions.
Prevention through safety:
example:
Strength:
These safety measures improve people knowledge and make awareness
and it is a simple way and direct mechanism to prevent occupational
risks like noise, radiation, and musculoskeletal injury, etc.
Weakness:
Most of the safety practice not provided for workers it makes the
unnessasary risk for them. most of the workers in the companies
with less knowledge having less awareness to handle some risk-based
equipment and other factors it makes them harm before preventing.
So workers education is a must before they start a job.
