Managing and motivating individuals following different cultural differences is basically difficult and also a challenging task to perform because each employee have different cultural experiences. Moreover, it is also a challenging task for the employer too. The employer separates the employees on common traits throughout the workforce. There are 4 different types of generations at workplace. They are:
a) Silents (born between 1925 and 1946)
b) Baby boomers ( Born between 1946 and 1964)
c) Generation Xers ( Born between 1965 and 1980) and
d) Generation Ys or Millennials (born after 1980)
SILENTS:
1. They are considered as the most loyal workers and they possess strong commitment to teamwork.
2. They are highly dedicated than other generational employees
3. They also have high standards of interpersonal communication skills.
4. They are the personnels born between 1925 and 1946, and so they are the elderly people in the U.S history.
BABY BOOMERS:
1. They possess high priority workplace then personal life.
2. Their values were shaped mainly by a rise in civil rights activism, Vietnam and inflation.
3. They are more optimistic also responsible for the Me Generation which brings them personal satisfaction also in today's workforce.
GENERATION XERS:
1. Also called as Slacker generation.
2. They are responsible for creating the work place and personal life balances concept.
3. They are independent and possess strong technical skills
4. However, some consider them at low level hierarchy of workplace because they( company leaders) felt that they are not dedicated as compared to other generations.
5. But, generation xers are employees willing to develop their skills and take on challenges and are very adaptive to the workplace.
MILLENNIALS:
1. First global centric generation, because they were born between the technological innovations of internet and terrorism.
2. With the significant changes in technological fields and educational training, this group of employees are considered as the most educated workers in current world.
