Board certification is not required to practice medicine ,it is avaluable tool for determining the expertise and experience of a physician in a particular field of medicine. In current Climate ,certification can pose high stakes for doctors.Many hospitals systems require board certification to receive privileges topractice.

According to the IOM report,increasing ethnic and racial diversity among health care professionals is important because diversity is associated with improved acess to care for ethinic racial minorities,greater patient choice and satisfaction,better patient clinician communication and improved educational experience
