According to the literature, the capacity of the individual depends on the context it is being expressed for. it is not ethical and is risky to deny someone's potential capacity for any situation under any circumstances. Similarly, on the context of mental illness a person may have severe illness than other and thus their capacities may vary. Therefore, comparing two individual on basis of the capacity they have to make decisions unknowing of the severity of their disease is not adequate. Doing so is hard and challenging as well as it leads to violation of someone's autonomy and respect. So it can be said that in such situation to limit one's capacity is not a very wise decision and can be reviewed. Therefore, it is said that the capacity is always correlated to context and limiting one's capacity by assuming their functioning power in a particular situation is not right. Reflecting this concept I evaluated the kid i baby sit who has Down's syndrome. His capacity to understand, make decisions and interact differs every day and is also enhancing with time and age. I want him to be competent to make his own health care decisions when he is old and I am sure he will be able to do so adequately. One challenge here identified is to know the point when the individual is ready to take own decisions or is recovered well to at-least that threshold of capacity required for any task. Whenever one is in doubt the doctor must be informed and consulted for better service provision.

How could you paraphrase or rewrite this one: I don't think you can put a specific age on when a person has capacity to make decisions with real consequences. If I had to choose an age, I would suggest 16 years old. At 16, you have taken numerous health courses, most likely received a license, and have a basic understanding of the consequences your actions would cause. However, they should still subject to some form of competency test. At 18,...

How could you rewrite or paraphrase this one: Physicians do not have unlimited discretion to refuse to accept a person as a new patient. Because much of medicine is involved with federal regulations, physicians cannot refuse to accept a person for ethnic, racial, or religious reasons. Some physicians refuse to treat attorneys. The complexities involved in capacity assessment have stimulated efforts to develop standardized measures and quantifiable scales to measure capacity. These efforts are ambitious and worthwhile; however, the clinical...

How could you paraphrase or rewrite this one: It is interesting to me how cardiac death is the most universal deciding factor on death, meanwhile brain death still allows for life-sustaining treatment for an extended amount of time. This is a difficult situation because although there is no brain activity, the heart will continue to beat under a ventilator and keep the body's organs alive. The organs are technically working, but there is no quality of life. It can be...

How could you paraphrase or rewrite this one: From a purely medical standpoint, cardiac death makes the most sense if one were to define death as the cessation of all bodily organs and systems. However, not everyone is a medical professional. I think most of the time, a brain death is good enough for the standard human because the person, or essence of the person, has ceased to exist to them. Everyone else does bring up good points about how...

Our style of attachment affects everything from our partner selection to how well our relationships progress to, sadly, how they end. That is why recognizing our attachment pattern can help us understand our strengths and vulnerabilities in a relationship. An attachment pattern is established in early childhood attachments and continues to function as a working model for relationships in adulthood. This model of attachment influences how each of us reacts to our needs and how we go about getting them...
