Patient teaching :
Take with prescription
Dosage to be calculated properly
Have more fluids to reduce the drymouth
Monitor for complication such as respiratory distress
2. ANTIMICROBIAL
Examples: penicillin, aminoglycosides, oflaxacin
Action : inhibits the cell wall synthesis, protein synthesis, nucliete activity and
Antimetabolite activity.
Uses: infection, prevents the growth of microorganism
Common effect: nausea and vomiting, dry mouth, diarrhea or constipation
Adverse effect: idiosyncratic reactions, anaphylaxis, severe allergy
Patient teaching: take dose appropriately, finish the course, don't hav compliance of drug, reduce antibiotic resistance by following the aseptic technique, vitamin c rich food to boost immunity.
3. BRONCHODILATORS
Examples: salbutamol, ipratopium, aclidinium
Action: relaxes the muscles of lungs by widening the airways which makes breathing easier
Uses: copd patients, asthma, tuberculosis
Adverse effects: insomnia, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea
Serious effects: palpitations, arrthmia, tachycardia
Patient teaching: take as per order, monitor for heart rate and respiration, if palpitation occurs inform health care immediately.
