difficulty.

2, Antimicrobial:
drug class: Subclass of antibiotic
Example: Penicillin, vancomycin
drug action: Inhibition or regulation, protein synthesis
uses: Kills microorganism
Common side effects: Vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, indigestion,
abdominal pain
Serious side effects: drug resistance, secondary infection
Patient teaching:
-Advice patients not to mix medicine with other medicine.
-Advice to complete the dose properly to avoid resistance
3, Bronchodilators:
Drug class: Bronchodilators
Example: Albuterol(short-acting beta-adrenergic bronchodilator),
salmeterol(long-acting beta-adrenergic bronchodilators)
Drug action: Open the airway of the drug by relaxing bronchial
muscle
Uses: To treat breathing difficulty in asthma, reactive airway
disease.
common side effects: Migraine headache, nausea, stomach pain,
cough, ear infection
serious side effects: Bronchospasm, low potassium, fast heart rate,
chest pain, anaphylaxis
Patient teaching:
-Advice the patient to avoid the allergens
- Avoid overdose
- Contact the doctor if there is any wheezing, palpitation,
shortness of breath

Drug class: blood thinner
Example: Warfarin, Amiodarone
drug action: Prevent blood clot
uses: Prevent blood clot in vital organs like heart, lung, and
brain, reduce the risk of embolization
common side effects: bleeding, abdomen pain, headache, dizziness,
fever, nausea, anemia
serious side effect: Cholestrolembolus syndrome, groin hemorrhage,
tissue necrosis, thrombocytopenia
patient teaching:

pregnancy and breastfeeding
-advice patient to avoid vigorous activity to avoid injury
-Inform the physician if there are any unusual bleeding and
symptoms of side effects
