Mastoiditis. It is acute or chronic bacterial infection of mastoid cells in the mastoid bone .The mastoid system is aseries of air cells contained within the temporal bone that communicate with the middle ear.

pathology ; The bacteria spread from the middle ear to mastoid air cells , where the inflammation causes the bony structures are the most common chronic mastoiditis.
clinical manifestaion;Otalgia ( pain or discomfort in or behind the ear. Redness or Tenderness, swelling behind the ear , Fever, Headache,Hearin loss in the affected ear, swelling behind the eyes.
Treatment; Antibiotics to cure the infecion , analgesic and antipyretics .and the surgical management -myringgotomy to perfom to drain the middle ear and mastidectomy may need to remove the infected mastoid bone
