The mother should not take food supplements but she should take food rich in omega 3 as supplements don’t substitute for food as they can't replicate all benefits of whole foods, such as fruits and vegetables as well as nutrients they provide. Whole foods offer various benefits over dietary supplements: they have essential fiber, protective antioxidants. So she should take food rich in omega 3 such as the; walnuts and fish especially the cold-water fatty fishes, salmon, mackerel, tuna, herring, and sardines.
