Answer: The most common endocrine disorder is the type 2 diabetes. The diabetes mellitus is a condition when there is increased blood glucose levels. The abnormalities in the blood glucose level causes low production of the insulin. The cells becomes resistant towards the action of insulin. Hence the glucose levels increases.

Sign and symptoms:

• Increased thirst.
• Ketone line smell in urination
• Weight loss.
• Swelling in feet.
• Extreme hunger.

Diagnosis: The blood glucose test reveals about the blood glucose level. The fasting and non fasting blood test are being performed. Oral glucose tolerance test.

Treatment:

• Insulin therapy
• Medications such as biguanides ( metformin) given to the patient.
• Healthy eating habits
• Exercise
• These conditions could occur to anyone but specially in older people.
