In Elizabethan age female were not allowed instead young boys took on the stage as female actor.

In Ancient Greece they considered women to be too dangerous if performed on stage.The prominent female characters were portrayed by men.

It was also prohibited during the period of Elizabethan era eve mb when strong characters were described by Shakespeare

Initially the Toman period too didn't allow the female performers but later it slowly changed and few female performers were there in this period
